Alfresco

Alfresco is the leading open source enterprise content management system built by the most experienced team in the industry drawn from Documentum®, Vignette® and Interwoven®. Twenty years of experience drove us to believe that the Enterprise Content Management industry was driven by:

  • High Cost — Application driven purchases with a high up-front investment and per user pricing
  • High Complexity — Long rollout cycles and complexity resulting in software either not being implemented or used
  • Lack of Customer Control — Proprietary control preventing choice and ability to switch to other vendors

For these reasons the vast majority of people do not use ECM systems but instead work with shared drives and email to create, share and store content.

How Alfresco is Different

In the current economic climate organizations need to do more with less. Alfresco’s passion is to offer a solution that focuses on:

  • Low Cost — A low cost, open source, subscription model with minimal upfront investment that can be driven out of operating expense (op ex) as opposed to capital expense (cap ex)
  • Simplicity — Rapid deployment to deliver immediate business value and rapid application development using pre-built components and lightweight scripting
  • Choice — Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by reusing existing hardware, software and skills. No lock-in to one ECM vendor or one stack, so when a vendor tries to dramatically increase maintenance fees you have a choice to go elsewhere

Alfresco Offers One Integrated Low Cost Solution

Web CMS is Booming with Double Digit Growth

While the majority of the country’s companies are struggling to keep their doors cracked open or regretfully shutting them all together, a handful of Web Content Management vendors are riding a wave of significant growth.

Among the lucky few is Ingeniux, a WCM vendor that recently reported its biggest first quarter in the company’s history, representing a 65 percent growth in revenues compared to Q1, 2008.

Joomla 1.5 Coming of Age and Looking Forward

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the release of Joomla 1.5, the first major release of the popular content management system.
In January 2008, the first stable release was downloaded almost 200,000 times. Since then, the total number has exploded to over 8 million downloads. Joomla is seeing the highest rate of adoption ever.

That same month, the Joomla Extensions Directory contained 2,600 extensions written for Joomla 1.0.x, a small percentage of which worked with Joomla 1.5. Today, that number is approaching 5,000 and most are Joomla 1.5 native. The JED is a a powerful barometer of the commitment of the community to the Joomla Project and platform.
And that community continues to grow exponentially. The Joomla Discussion Forums contain over 1.5 million posts from almost 250,000 users. The spirit of open source, collaboration, and users helping users has never been stronger.
